I hope to use this blog to share scientifically supported information regarding many of food issues our culture has popularized, separating the fluff from the substance. The fat from the meat. The gliadin from the glutenin.... er, you get the hint.
The emphasis will primarily be on food allergies and intolerance; what causes them, what are signs you may have one, how do you narrow down what your allergy/intolerance is, and how do you best deal with it? Is it really beneficial to cut out gluten if you are not suffering from Celiac's or are otherwise clinically intolerance? Do you have a cow's milk allergy and have difficulty figuring out what to do in a food culture that seems to add milk to everything?
In addition I will work in some nifty tricks to know while living with the particular intolerance/allergy in question. A trick that makes butter safe to use for cow's milk allergies, gluten free recipes that actually work and don't rob you out of house and home in the process, vegetarian/vegan options for foods that don't involve heavily processed meat alternatives... these are the things I endeavor to provide for you here.
